Managing imports: our procedures

When managing shipments and, in particular, importing goods into Italy, Sebi follows specific procedures to ensure control and correct fulfilment of all the stages involved in bringing goods into Italy.

This method of working requires us to appoint and engage, among other things, our network of correspondents, our consultants, logistics services and the department responsible for providing customs services.

For road freight, Sebi manages all relations with shipping companies inhouse in the interests of control and safety, and to provide each customer with the best import services every time.

Importing goods: the process

  • Goods arrive in Italy from another country.
  • Sebi collects the documentation from the air or sea freight companies and issues a customs stamp to enter goods in free circulation, or a "T1" EU transit document in the case of goods addressed to other customs offices.
  • Sebi manages mediation with airports and relations with customs.
  • If requested, Sebi provides assistance to authorities to check goods or documents.
  • Once the customs operations are concluded, Sebi coordinates the shipment service according the customer's instructions.
